Day 1: Paro – Thimphu
Arrival at the Paro International Airport, the gateway to Bhutan. Meeting with a guide and transfer to hotel. On the en route visit Tachog monastery, the first place to visit on our tour to Bhutan. After reaching Thimphu visit Buddha Dordenma (known as Buddha Point), the largest and tallest statue of Buddha in the world and followed by a welcome dinner at one of the restaurants in the market area.
Day 2: Thimphu
Full-day tour Thimphu Valley includes; visit to Trashi Choe Dzong, the beautiful medieval fortress which houses most of the government’s office and King’s Thorne room. It is also the summer residence of Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot. Then visit National Library which holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist texts and manuscripts. After that visit, Textile and Folk Heritage Museum, a fascinating testimony of the Bhutanese living cultural and traditional. Later drive to Memorial Chorten, the stupa built in the memory of Bhutan’s Third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk (Popularly regarded as Father of Modern Bhutan). Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Day 3: Thimphu - Punakha
Drive to the mysterious of the region called Punakha (known for its architectural magnificence). You can have short scene of Dochula, the landmark where 108 Chorten is built. Later visit the Punakha Dzong, the 17th century fortress which now the seat of the district administration and the winter residence of the Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot of monastic body, followed by visit to local market. Overnight at the hotel in Punakha.
Day 4: Punakha – Wangduephodrang - Gangtey
Morning visit Gangtey (Phobjikha) via Wangduephodrang. Visit the ruin of Wangdue Dzong (tragically destroyed by fire in June 2012) and local market. Ahead to the biggest attraction of Black Necked Crane especially in winter. First will visit Gangtey Temple, the only Nyingmapa monastery and then walk the Gangtey Valley for tour of stunning view of Phobjikha valley located on a hill at approx. 2,800 meters above the sea level. Evening leisure time.
Day 5: Gangtey – Paro
Morning departure for Paro. En route stop in Lobesa way through the paddy fields and clustered houses with beautiful phallus paintings. At the manor there’s a possibility to buy wonderful handmade souvenirs. Arrival to Chime Lhakhang, known for fertility blessings. The legend Lama Drukpa Kuenley (Divine Madman) built this temple in 15th century for the gift of fertility and for the welfare of their children. In late afternoon arrival to Paro. Half-day walking tour of Paro sightseeing. The program includes: a Ta Dzong (National Museum), Rinpung Dzong. Back to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Taktsang Monastery Hike
After breakfast we will take 2 hours hike to Taktsang Monastery (tiger Nest). It is a sacred site built on the 10,000 feet above sea level. It is said that Guru Padmasambhava had flown on the back of the Tiger to meditate in a cave for three years. It said to be the most photographed monasteries in Bhutan. Later leisure time and overnight at hotel.
Day 7: departure
In the morning transfer to Paro Airport, for your flight back home. We look forward to seeing you all again in the land of happiness and hope you have beautiful memories. Tashi Delek.
